A steel freeway is simply a conventional freight rail line run on the median of an interstate highway. Container trucks are then required to cross-ship their containers to rail for transportation into town. This eliminates both the traffic and the pollution associated with heavy trucking.
We propose two Steel Freeways, one along I-5 from the Columbia River to Woodburn, the other along I-84 from the Willamette River to Troutdale.
